RESCUE CREW TRAINING (AVI30510) Certificate III in Aviation (rescue crew) 14 Units

The Certificate III in Aviation (Rescue Crew) is a 4 week fulltime course delivered by Medical Rescue Training in conjunction with the Australian College of Mining Pty Ltd (RTO Provider Number 110084). Upon completion of the course, students are awarded the only nationally recognised qualifications for rescue crew in Australasia. The course is suitable for personnel operating on board a helicopter undertaking Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. The components of the course can be tailored through selection of additional elective units for Government agencies such as Fire, Police, Medical and military. Certificate III rescue crew graduates may elect to further extend their training to complete a Certificate IV Aviation (Rescue Crew) to become an aircrewman and hoist operator.

Certificate III Course Overview

The Units of Competency are specifically selected so that the student receives both theoretical and practical instruction in skills and techniques suitable for EMS/SAR helicopters in general operations or during an emergency response. At the completion of the course the student will gain a level of competence to allow them to participate as an active crew person on board an EMS/SAR helicopter performing an emergency response or rescue. These responses may include a normal landing, landing at an undesignated helipad or the use of a winch for insertion of crew and the extraction of a patient by stretcher winching. The course also covers essential information for emergency procedures.

Students will progress through the course developing specific skills for general and emergency response operations. As each skill is developed it will be included into progressive scenario based training. Students will participate in practical training missions where under instructor supervision they will manage a response to an emergency incident.
